I can't help myself.
I play the "I remember where I was when ...." game and am quick to relay my memories of 9/11 to one and all. It comes back so vividly (hearing it first on NPR, then racing to turn on the TV, the hitch Peter Jenning's voice saying that Tower One had collapsed, the flurry of phone calls). So many details are still so piercingly clear.   

I'm not the only one. Friends are just as eager to share their 9/11 memories, usually starting with something like: "I was brushing my teeth when Katie Couric said...."

So we relive those frozen moments of bewildered teeth-brushing or NPR-listening as we struggled to comprehend what was happening. And it never sounds dull. 

My wish: Those memories stay crystallized for good.
