Jennifer

I'd say it has to be Donna Summer for me. Especially Bad Girls, which brings out my inner disco queen.

Metrospective

Lately, I've been all too familiar with this topic.

I've discovered an unfortunate side effect of these new video iPods: the screen is so big and bright that I'm now very conscious about what I listen to at the gym. What happens when the Beefsteak on the treadmill next to mine sees that I have a thing for Liz Phair and Ashlee Simpson? (These ladies make me run faster; what can I say?)

How about when the freckly girl two rows back on the Stairmaster notices that--somehow!--a Waylon Jennings song made it on my playlist?

I stand ready with my denial if ever confronted: 'Luckenbach, Texas? Never heard of the place.'

Well, i am just glad you did not bash great canadian rock in what is your usual anti-canadian dribble. I would have expected you to put songs by Lover Boy and April Wine on this list. But there is nothing embarassing about rocking out to April Wine's "I like to Rock" or Lover Boy's "The kid is hot tonight."

I totally swooned when I heard Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" at ReStore last weekend.

And Britney Spears' "Toxic" is on the iPod.

casarojo

Oh, i think that is the question. What song on your would you be most embarassed to tell your friends. I am going to have search mine.

Scribblista

Britney Spears! I forgot all about her.... and I suspect she's hidden away on a bunch of iPods...

And Lenny,
Great Canadian rock? I didn't know such a think existed. Uh-oh... pretty soon you'll have me putting "I have no problem with Canada" disclaimers on every post!

At the top of my list are Abba (Dancing Queen), Billy Idol (Eye Without a Face) and, Takashi Hirayasu (Mensoreyo - Toshin Doi). I have no shame!

mtv4ever

Savage Garden, Belinda Carlisle, TLC, Lisa Loeb, Matchbox 20, Third -Eye Blind, The Cardigans, Toni Braxton. Scary, but true.

 wmscyclone

What? No Meatloaf?

Of course there's no reason to be embarrassed by lyrics like:

"And all I can do is keep on telling you
I want you, I need you
But-there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad"

or

"Oh I know you belong
Inside my aching heart
And can't you see my faded Levis
Bursting apart"

Ok, ok. I'll finally come out in PUBLIC and admit it once and for all...I can't get enough of Huey Lewis--and I will defend "Do You Believe in Love" to anyone that defies me to name a good song by HN and The News!!! There. I said it. I feel so much better. Just like they said I would.

casarojo

OK, after scanning the over 6000 songs on my ipod i can say there is nothing i'm embarassed about on it (yet). but, i must confess there is a Scorpions song I like. I might have to hunt iTunes for that one.

How about Bad Company. Anyone have any of their stuff.

I was embarassed to have a girlfriend who liked Savage Garden...Does that count?

Huey Lewis!!! I've heard that guy has a horn that you wouldn't believe!!! (or was that horn section?). She sounded like she knew from experience.

I admit my iTunes collection, mainly for working out and mainly contemporary, does in fact include:
* Donna Summer's "I Feel Love," an awesome running song
* KC and the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight"
* Technotronic's "Pump Up the Jam" -- and, the biggest secret of all --
* "You're the One that I Want," by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.

My 40-year-old ex-boss, who I believe is 100% heterosexual, openly confesses to loving all of Barry Manilow's work. Sad. Very sad.

veronica

Kelly Clarkson's "since you been gone." I crank that song up when I'm in the car and hope I don't see anyone I know in the lane next to mine.
