Hooked On A Feeling

We apologize for our infrequent postings of late. We've been busy with a hectic work week, puppy duty and of course, the curse obsession that is Babble.

But today, a buddy emailed us something so wondrous, so profound, so genuinely stupefying that we had to drop everything and post it immediately. 

Naturally, it involves David Hasselhoff. [He's huge in Europe.] 

We'd argue that this video - which has been floating around in cyberspace for a while now -- is truly one of the wonders of the World Wide Web.

If this ain't art, we don't know what is.

Why We Don't Trust The News

Lately, media folks have been buzzing about CBS's courtship of Katie Couric, and the likelihood that she'll fill Dan Rather's old seat when her $60 million Today Show contract is up in May.

Yup, it makes us feel a little ill over here too.

So, in case CBS president Les Moonves is reading this, let us make one thing perfectly clear: No one wants a ditz -- especially one who encourages pigeons to crap all over her -- anchoring the CBS Evening News.   

If you didn't see Katie-and-the-pigeons, watch this Today Show video. It'll convince anyone that:

1. She's a fruitcake.
2. She has lousy taste in house coats.
   
3. If CBS truly believes this what America wants, the only thing left to say is: Good night and good luck.

Panda Addicts Anonymous

Our interns here at Scribblista have launched a 12-step program to help us cope with our little Panda-watching problem. 
We can't get enough of the Giant Panda Cam.
We're blaming our addiction on Wonkette, who turned us onto the this cam last week. We immediately had to re-size our monitors and started tuning into every burp and belly-scratch made by the new cub, born last month at the Washington National Zoo in D.C.
Since then, productivity has dropped by 58% and we've spent many, many minutes cooing over each wriggle and snore. And all work grinds to a complete halt whenever the baby cozies up to his mama.   
We'd tell you more, but ... we. Can't. Stop. Watching.

Tom published it on his blog, then filmed a little movie about waiting for someone -- anyone -- to give him a ring.
So call him. It's your chance to finger Freddy.

We learned two things by watching this:
1) Drew Barrymore's former husbands are even more bored than the rest of us.
2) Hollywood publicists earn their keep.

Monday Morning Oomph

Does it feel like a typical Monday to you? It definitely feels like one over here. And here.

There's a lot to enjoy at the Tales of Mere Existence site, but I highly recommend  the movies, such as Procrastination (we can relate), Protege (who can't relate?) and Balance (one way to psych yourself up for a party, though we also recommend listening to K.C. & Sunshine Band.)

Now Playing On MTV

Well, maybe not on MTV exactly.
But a music video of George Bush Don't Like Black People -- K.O.'s post-NOLA rendition of Kanye West's hit song "Gold Digga" -- is in heavy rotation on the blogosphere. It opens with Kayne's infamous VMA speech and recently became the subject of a lawsuit.
Personally, this is the edgiest and best song I've heard all year. And it got me wondering: What ever happened to protest music? I'd like to hear today's music supastars throw in their two cents about the issues of the day.
